Surì is an indigenous Bribrí word that means deer, a sacred animal for many indigenous cultures in America. It's a symbol of nature, conservation, and the tropical richness of our territories.
Surì Expeditions is a tourism agency (SME) that guarantees 21st-century explorers the chance to discover and experience indigenous territories while visiting Costarican tropical ecosystems.
Our main objective is to visit sites that have a natural and cultural abundance, which due to different reasons have not been included in most commercial routes and trips that visit Costa Rica.
Our country has over 150 protected wildlife areas, which represent 26% of the forest coverage of our territory, our indigenous cultures inhabit many of these areas.
These populations share their knowledge, sustainable management practices, and natural resources, with those who come to have adventures, explore, and seek wisdom from them.
Surì Expeditions guarantees an ethnic-cultural experience that creates an understanding of the bond the indigenous cosmovision have with the tropical forests that surround them. Our vision is to enhance the tourism visitation to indigenous territories and protected areas that remain out of the “traditional tourism routes”.
We strive to achieve fair distribution and economic empowerment, increase the sharing of ancestral wisdom, and assist in passing on the knowledge about the conservation of our tropical jungles that those Costa Rican communities offer.
