Los Almendros Hotel
Cabinas los Almendros, was built to replace an old cocoa dryer project, belonging to the León Chang family, which was used to receive crops from the area, since until the end of the 70's, cocoa was the most important activity lucrative sector. However, due to the Monilia fungus, crops declined dramatically along with the economy dependent on the crop. For this reason, the land use of the area has been reformed by projects focused on tourist use, thanks to the different attractions that the sector presents.
The hotel was built in its first steps in the year 2000, the land was given to its current owner, Mr. Frank León, who with his own means started the activity with only 4 rooms. Thanks to the commercial growth of the area, the first two-story building was completed in 2005, and later in 2007 the construction phase was completed.
When the hotel was initially established, local commerce was booming, so there were not many facilities since commercial premises were scarce and the roads were ballast, so the hotel has grown together with Puerto Viejo, in direct contact with its culture, the people of the area and the environment, the main reason for tourist visitation in the sector due to the experience offered by contact with natural resources.
